The mission of Dear Black Diary is to provide high-quality services to HBCU students and affiliates in a compassionate and personalized manner. We believe in treating the whole person, not just the symptoms, and empowering students to take an active role in their mental health progression.
The vision of Dear Black Diary is to create a culturally inclusive, accessible, and supportive environment where students, faculty, staff and administration can openly discuss mental health, seek resources, and receive the care they need. The organization aims to break down the unique barriers and stigmas often faced by students of color, particularly Black students, who may encounter cultural, societal, and historical challenges when addressing mental health issues.
Dear Black Diary aims to partner with HBCU students, campus organizations, faculty and staff to identify campus needs for additional mental health resources and support groups. Should students observe the utility of Dear Black Diary services on campus, partner with your Student Activities Coordinator to begin the process. Your university official will then reach out to our organization to establish a Dear Black Diary Chapter on your HBCU campus.
Our brand has vowed to take partnership with other organizations that have deep roots in the community geared specifically towards HBCU students. We are seeking sponsorships and collaborative efforts with any organizations that drive initiatives who lend resources, both human and monetary, to schools that aren't fortunate enough to receive funding for mental health advocacy.
